Man Utd now want to sign 'one of the best in the league' to replace 'world-class' star - report

Manchester United are showing an interest in Everton star Iliman Ndiaye as they look to replace Marcus Rashford this summer, according to Caught Offside.

The Red Devils oversaw an overhaul of their attack last summer as they brought in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, while all of Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho left the club.

The club have now switched back to a back four system with traditional wingers, and that means more numbers are needed in attack for next season, and even moreso should they qualify for the Champions League as they hope to, and that has led them to look at options in the market as potential solutions.

Ndiaye, who has been described as 'one of the best in the league in his position', is capable of playing across the front line and has played the majority of this season on the right-wing, despite having a preference for playing off the left.

That hasn't seen his performance level drop though, and the Cameroon international has had a top campaign, registering four goals and two assists for David Moyes' side.

But his performances have gone far beyond goals and assists for the Toffees, with many considering him to be one of their most important players, and that has attracted the attention of several top clubs including Manchester United

United are keen to bring in a new left-winger this summer and Ndiaye is someone who has caught their eye, with sources close to the player's agent informing Caught Offside that there is strong interest.

Ndiaye recently commented on the links, saying;

“If clubs like Manchester United are interested, it means I’m doing something right.”

Everton don't want to lose the winger though, and have slapped an asking price of around £60m on his head. However, they are still likely to be difficult negotiators, with the 25-year-old being under contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium until 2029.

Ndiaye Is a Classic Man Utd Signing

During the glory days at Old Trafford, Man Utd were best known for taking the top players from the smaller clubs across the leagues who were ready to explode in order to refresh their squad. They got back to that last summer with the likes of Cunha and Mbeumo, and now with Ndiaye they could do the same thing again.

With Rashford having no future at the club, despite being dubbed 'world-class', even if his move to Barcelona doesn't become permanent, an explosive forward who can play across the attack is likely to be a priority this summer, and Ndiaye is a name to watch.
