Talk about Sean Dyche’s future at Nottingham Forest is continuing to swirl ahead of this week’s huge match at the City Ground.
The Reds are facing a potentially-decisive few days in their battle to avoid relegation. How they fare could also have a bearing on Dyche’s position, as well as the club’s Premier League status.
Bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers are the visitors Trentside on Wednesday (7.30pm kick-off). By the time kick-off comes around, Forest’s three-point cushion over the drop zone will have been wiped out if West Ham United beat Manchester United this evening (Tuesday).
Speculation about Dyche being under pressure emerged over the weekend, on the back of Friday’s 3-1 defeat at Leeds United. The focus on the 54-year-old’s job is only intensifying as matchday draws closer.

Failure to beat Wolves would see him “come under scrutiny”, according to The Telegraph. Although there is a reluctance at the club to move on to a fourth manager of the season, the Reds’ perilous position has led to “uncertainty” over Dyche’s future.
Even if the ex-Everton boss steers Forest to safety, it is not clear whether he would still be in situ for next season. The Daily Mail have reported survival might not guarantee Dyche remains in post beyond the summer amid “concern” about some of the team’s performances.
Dyche was appointed in October and has overseen 10 wins from his 24 games in charge in all competitions. In addition to trying to keep their head above water in the league, the Reds also want to go far in the Europa League as they prepare for this month’s two-legged play-off against Fenerbahce.
A chaotic start to the campaign saw Nuno Espirito Santo dismissed three games in. Ange Postecoglou then lasted 39 days in the hot seat before being sacked after failing to register a single victory.

Prior to a dismal showing at Elland Road last week, Forest were unbeaten in four league games. Their form had resulted in Dyche being nominated for the Premier League’s manager of the month award for January.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the showdown with Wolves, Dyche was asked whether he had spoken to owner Evangelos Marinakis about the situation. He replied: “The ownership have always had contact with me.
“The owner is well aware - and I made it clear to him - that this was never going to be smooth sailing all the way through. We have seen some hiccups; some good days and not so good days.
“We came off after the Palace game (a 1-1 draw) and got a really important point. It was a good point following a ten v 11 situation (after Neco Williams’ red card) and he (Marinakis) was congratulating me.
“I don’t think over one game it is going to be that extreme where he is suddenly going to say: ‘Right, we need to change everything at the club for a fourth time’. You never know. But I am a realist, and he is as well, about the current situation and what we took over here.”
