Former Leeds United star Michael Bridges has praised current Whites striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Whites snapped up the England international on a free transfer during the summer transfer window after his Toffees contract came to an end and after taking his time to settle at Elland Road, Calvert-Lewin has quickly dispelled any concerns over his fitness record by finding form in front of goal.
After grabbing his first Whites goal on his third appearance at Wolves, the 28-year-old frontman failed to find the net in his next seven appearances. However, a goal in a 3-2 defeat at title contenders Manchester City kickstarted a stunning upturn in fortunes that was extended to nine goals in 13 games when Calvert-Lewin found the net in Friday night’s 3-1 home win against fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest.
Calvert-Lewin will lead the line once again when Leeds visit Chelsea on Tuesday night after finding the net against the Blues in the reverse fixture in December - and he goes into the Stamford Bridge clash with the full backing of a former Whites striker after Michael Bridges lauded the impact he has made over his first six months at Elland Road.

Speaking on LUTV following Friday night’s win, the former Whites striker said: “Every time I see him play as well now, I watched him a lot when he was at Everton. I know he was playing through the pain barrier on several occasions, but you could tell from his body language; it almost came to the point where you could see he wasn’t enjoying his football.“He’s got a new lease of life, he’s playing with a smile on his face, and that goes a hell of a long way. I know exactly what it’s like and how hard it is to go through an injury crisis to get back to scoring that many goals in the Premier League again and doing it. I couldn’t get there. I couldn’t get anywhere near. I had to go down the divisions to get my love of the game. He’s spot on. What a player.”

Speaking to Leeds United club media after the win against Forest, Calvert-Lewin said: “I think when you go into any season, double figures is what you have got to aim for as a number nine in this league. So, it is nice to obviously hit that milestone at the moment but I am hungry for more. I am striving every day to improve and just keep scoring more goals. Everything came together (against Forest), an all-round performance from the team. I think just good discipline, well-managed in the game and things obviously went our way on the night. The conditions were difficult and we knew what they were going to bring. We battled well and obviously won the game.
