(Sir) Les Ferdinand to be inducted into National Football Museum Hall of Fame

News today that Les Ferdinand will be inducted into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame.

This follows a public vote.

The Newcastle United legend winning that popular vote.

Sir Les will be inducted during a special ceremony at the Museum in Manchester on Tuesday 17th February, the day before United take on Qarabag in their Champions League play-off first leg in Baku.

As part of the National Football Museum Hall of Fame induction, Sir Les Ferdinand will also donate an historic shirt from his career to the museum’s collection.

Sir Les was a key figure in the team that Kevin Keegan built, that same so close to winning the Premier League,, United finishing as runner-up in both of Ferdinand’s NUFC seasons.

Les Ferdinand joins the likes of Kevin Keegan and Gary Lineker in the National Football Museum Hall of Fame.

The Newcastle United legend declaring on hearing the news: “It’s an absolute honour to be inducted into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame alongside some of the great players and managers that have graced the premier league! Football has been such a big part of my life, and to have my career recognised in this way — especially on the anniversary of my England debut — means a great deal to me. I’m also proud to be able to donate an object to the Museum and contribute to telling the story of the game for future generations.”
