Premier League confirm major fixture boost for Leeds United – Daniel Farke will be very happy

Leeds United’s survival chances this season are likely to hinge on Daniel Farke making the most out of Elland Road between now and May.

United’s hopes of breaking into the 30s for points this week appear slim as we head to Stamford Bridge this evening to take on Chelsea.

A defeat wouldn’t be the end of the world if that were the case. That’s because of the favourable home fixtures Leeds have left this season.

Leeds United set to prioritise Elland Road games for rest of the season under Daniel Farke

What we’ve seen since the change in formation at the end of November is a drastic shift not only in Leeds’ performances, but also points on the board.

Leeds are ninth in the form table since the beginning of December. Our upturn started with that memorable 3-1 winning over Chelsea at Elland Road. That home triumph was the start of an impressive trend for Leeds in being truly formidable at home, especially when under the floodlights.

As we travel to Chelsea tonight, there’s a worry that we won’t be able to produce the same calibre of performance as we did against Nottingham

Leeds’ 29 points this season, 22 of them have come in LS11. In turn, Leeds have collected just seven on our travels with our only win coming against bottom-club Wolves.

Premier League confirm Leeds United v Brentford for Saturday 8pm slot at Elland Road

Away from tonight’s trip to Chelsea, Leeds have been handed a boost in our hopes of winning further home fixtures at Elland Road.

Next month, Leeds host Brentford on Saturday 21st March. The Bees are 10th in the ‘away table’ with five wins and eight losses on the road so far. Importantly for Leeds though, they will be travelling to West Yorkshire for a night kick-off.

In early March, Leeds host Sunderland at night. But, there was uncertainty around our meeting with Keith Andrews’ side. That was due to EFL Cup and Champions League scheduling, namely Chelsea and Liverpool.

However, it’s now been confirmed that United’s meeting with the Bees will take place at 8pm on the 21st March:

Given what we know about Leeds’ performances under the lights this season, more games being played in those conditions is a major boost for our survival chances.
