The games Bertrand Traore will miss for Sunderland after fresh injury update

Traore returned from the African Cup of Nations with a knee injury, which Sunderland said would sideline the 30-year-old for between four and six weeks.

That was a month ago, but Le Bris expects Traore to be out for another three weeks.

That would rule the winger out of tomorrow's game against Liverpool, Sunday's FA Cup trip to Oxford and the Premier League games against Fulham and Bournemouth. He would also be a doubt for the visit of Leeds United, which is three weeks today.

"He's in the same dynamic, similar to Granit [Xhaka]," said Le Bris, who confirmed Noah Sadiki is available to play against Liverpool tomorrow night after shaking off the minor injury he picked up in Saturday's defeat at Arsenal.

"Almost three weeks, something like that. So it's always symptom-driven, but they are both in a good place. So hopefully we'll have good news in a few weeks.

"He suffered an important knee injury and played with his national team in the second half, I think. I don't remember the opponent.

"And when he came back here in Sunderland, the diagnosis was that you need to rest and you need to take care of your knee if you want to have a stable knee for the end of the season and for his career as well.

"So we didn't rush the process and we took care of him just to make sure that he's ready to play."

Traore suffered the injury in Burkina Faso's AFCON defeat to Ivory Coast. Asked whether he was frustrated that his winger had played on in that game, despite the injury, Le Bris said: "Hard to say. Because the player tried for his country. And as a player at that level, you are often on the edge.

"You are never pain-free. You always have something somewhere. And it's not easy to assess a new injury.

"If you have experienced the same one before, you might say, OK, here I can reach the limit. But for this one, he thought it was possible, but it wasn't."
