Former Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons is now without a club after his contract at Morecambe expired this month. The 30‑year‑old Jamaica international joined the Shrimps following a summer spent among dozens of unattached players training in the PFA's pre‑season programme.
Aarons made 13 appearances during his spell with Morecambe, who currently sit second bottom in the National League and remain six points adrift of safety. The club confirmed his departure in a brief statement, marking the end of the two‑cap Jamaica international's time at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.
The statement read: "Morecambe Football Club can confirm that Rolando Aarons has departed the club following the expiration of his contract.
"Aarons joined the Shrimps during the 2025/26 season and went on to feature 13 times throughout his time.
"Everyone at Morecambe FC would like to thank Rolando for his efforts and dedication while at the club and wish him the very best in the next chapter of his career."
Aarons scored twice in 18 Premier League appearances for Newcastle, but his career has taken him to nine other clubs since then.
Before signing for the National League side, he had been without a side for nine months following his departure from Slovenian PrvaLiga outfit Celje at the end of last year.
At Newcastle, he first broke through into the first-team as a teenager, spending nine years at the club and making 27 senior appearances all-told.

Aarons left St James' Park permanently in the summer of 2021 to join Huddersfield Town, although he spent much of his three-year spell out on loan.
