Simon Jordan has adjusted his thinking on who he believes will be the top two teams to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League this season.
The talkSPORT pundit had felt confident about Coventry City but has always fancied Ipswich Town, and now Middlesbrough’s current run has seen him “accept” promotion for the Sky Blues via the dreaded play-offs.
Frank Lampard’s men saw their 127 day spell at the top of the Championship come to an end on Monday night when Boro leap-frogged them following their 2-1 win at Sheffield United. City previously held a ten point gap on the Teessiders but now sit two behind them in second place, while the Tractor Boys are five points behind in third spot.

Speaking on the White and Jordan show, the former Crystal Palace owner said: “I’m tipping Ipswich (for automatic promotion), and I maintain my tipping of Ipswich.
“If Middlesbrough continue in this vein, if I’m tipping Ipswich to be promoted, and subsequently subscribing to the view that Middlesbrough have now got a hold of themselves, how can I now lay a claim for Coventry to be automatically promoted?
“I will accept their promotion through the play-offs.”
