Sheffield United have omitted former Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton from their EFL squad list.
Following the closure of the winter transfer window, clubs have had to name a 25-strong list of players over the age of 21 they can pick from for the remainder of the campaign.
Sheffield United’s list has been published and does not feature Shackleton, who has been plagued by injury since his move from Leeds in the summer of 2024.
His exclusion means he will not be able to feature for the Blades for the rest of the current season.
It is a development that has not come as much of a surprise given he has made just three substitute appearances this season. His last senior outing came in October, when he appeared from the bench against Preston North End.
Had he remained fit, his versatility could have proven useful for the Blades given he can play in midfield or at full-back.

Jamie Shackleton’s ‘difficult’ time at Sheffield United
Speaking about a fresh injury setback for Shackleton last month, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder said: “It’s a little bit of a setback, from Shacks’ point of view. He's had a real difficult time at the football club and it’s disappointing for him as well.
“First and foremost, we’ve got to get him back fit and be involved. Getting minutes and getting training for a period of time before anybody - and that's right across the board - is available for us or is available for, maybe, a loan to get themselves back playing.”
Shackleton is a product of the Leeds academy and was given his professional debut by Marcelo Bielsa in 2018.
The 26-year-old won plaudits for his industrious nature at Elland Road and went on to make a further 93 appearances for the club. Since his move to Bramall Lane in 2024, however, he has managed just 15 outings.

Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City and Middlesbrough confirm squad lists
Over on the blue side of the Steel City, crisis-stricken Sheffield Wednesday have named a squad of just 18 senior players.
Hull City and Middlesbrough have both named 23-man squads, with the latter having omitted Seny Dieng, Darragh Lenihan and Micah Hamilton.
Dieng was reportedly lined up for a move away from the Riverside on deadline day before seeing the proposed switch collapse.
The spaces left in the Wednesday, Hull and Middlesbrough squads mean there is scope for the clubs to enter the free agent market.
