Sean Dyche confirms Nottingham Forest star is injured, EFL clubs wanted him in January

Nottingham Forest head coach Sean Dyche is under intense pressure at the City Ground.

The Reds face Wolves on Trentside tomorrow night, knowing that anything other than three points could spell the end for Dyche in his job as the club’s head coach.

Dyche has had some good results at Forest, most notably against Tottenham, Liverpool and Brentford but drab performances against Leeds, Fulham and twice against Everton have pushed the head coach to the brink.

The boss isn’t worried about the threat of the sack, and Dyche believes he’s got the backing of Evangelos Marinakis, with the hierarchy already having two managers this season.

Sean Dyche delivers update on Forest defender Willy Boly

Boly was linked with a move to two EFL clubs in January, but a move never materialised.

Now, Boly has been taken out of the squads for both the Premier League and the Europa League, with some fans left scratching their head over that call.

Although Boly hasn’t played much this season, most of the intrigue comes over why he was even handed a one-year extension in the first place.

Nuno Espirito Santo clearly valued his impact in the dressing room on a matchday and he was often in the squad last season under the old boss.

Now, Dyche has been quizzed on the decision to withdraw him from the squads for the second half of the campaign, revealing that he’s actually injured.

He said in his press conference: “He’s injured. We took him out of the squad because we have to bring freshness to it.

“I spoke to him at length. He’s a brilliant fella and a brilliant pro, without a shadow of a doubt.

“He knows, he understands. It’s his knee. He was struggling a bit with it, but was getting on with it and seeing if he could take it further.”

Boly has played his final game for Forest

With Boly now unavailable to play for the remainder of the season, time is up for him at the City Ground.

The player is out of contract in the summer, and there is no way that he gets an extension based on his inactivity during 2025/26.

Boly has been a very good servant to Forest during his time at the club, and he’s helped the club stabilise since his arrival from Wolves.

It’s a shame that Forest haven’t been able to call upon Boly this season – particularly in Europe – and now the fan base will hope he can get fit and return to action next season with a new club.
