Newcastle United welcome back Anthony Gordon against Tottenham Hotspur but remain without Lewis Miley.

The Magpies were booed off the pitch as they lost 3-2 to Brentford at St James’ Park on Saturday night after the result left them 12th in the Premier League, 10 points below the top five and 10 points above the relegation zone.

Spurs, meanwhile, are four points behind Eddie Howe’s side in the table in 15th and have won just twice at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season, the same number of games United have won away from home.

Newcastle United starting XI v Tottenham Hotspur confirmed

Eyeing a first win since the 4-3 victory over Leeds United on January 7, Howe has named four changes from the Brentford defeat.

Dan Burn comes into the back four at left-back in place of Lewis Hall, who is on the bench after starting 13 of the last 14 matches. Jacob Ramsey replaces Sandro Tonali in the midfield while Anthony Elanga comes in for Jacob Murphy on the right.

As he did for the 4-1 defeat at Liverpool, Howe has left £124m duo Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa on the bench and deployed Anthony Gordon - back from injury - as the central striker.

Anthony Gordon returns, Lewis Miley still missing

Gordon is back in the team after missing the Brentford game with a hamstring issue. However, Lewis Miley’s absence continues after taking a “nasty” bang to the leg during the 1-1 draw away to Paris Saint-Germain.

Miley was on the bench for the following game at Anfield but hasn’t been in the squad for the last three matches.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Howe said the medical team would check on the 19-year-old’s fitness and according to Daily Mail, he could be out for another couple of weeks.

Howe said: “Miley I need to see today, we'll get another update on his progress, he's got a nasty bang to his leg, so it's like a dead leg that's dragged on a little bit longer than we thought, so we'll see how he is.”
