Hurzeler reveals key support he has from Bloom and Barber at Albion

The Seagulls have just one win in 12 league games ahead of the trip to Aston Villa and fans voiced their anger after defeat by Crystal Palace.

Hurzeler said he spoke with Bloom, who looked far from amused as he watched the action from the West Stand.

The head coach said: “We have a lot of exchanges, not only Tony but also Paul Barber (deputy chairman) and me, Mike (Cave, technical director), Jason (Ayto, sporting director).

“It's a daily exchange. It's not that we speak only one time in a month so therefore I really appreciate the honest conversations we have.

“The loyalty, the support I get from the club, from all the persons who are responsible for this club.

“Therefore my responsibility is now to give this trust back, and that's what I try to do.”

Hurzeler said the meetings and discussions had been normal routine.

He added: “Of course, we see the situation, and we spoke about the reality, where we are at the moment, and we all know we need to get the results.

“But I emphasised the phrase to focus also on the performances, to focus also the process.

“If you try to overreact now, if you try to get into panic, I think it's one of the worst things that that can happen.

“I spoke to my players and we spoke about what the astronauts, when they fly to the moon or have a mission, what they get taught first.

“When you get into a panic mode, you always react to things.

“I think that's the worst thing that this happens and you react, this happens and you react.

“Then you really lose the line, you really lose the main focus and the main focus is sticking to our style of play, sticking to how we work together, how we behave together, how we support each other, how honest we are together.

“I think that's the main thing we really should focus on and don't try to overreact and therefore, the responsible persons with Paul and with Tony, they are role models for that because they are honest but they also don't get into a panic mode.

“I think this calmness makes it very important for me that I have these supporters and this trust around me.

“But in the end, we all know that this business is a business also of getting the results in the right moment.

“That is something we shouldn't forget.”
