Nottingham Forest frontrunners to sign "tremendous player", cut-price deal now possible

Nottingham Forest are now the favourites to sign a "tremendous player" this summer, and a cut-price deal could be possible.

Forest eyeing new signings with Dyche under pressure

With Forest just three points clear of the Premier League relegation zone, following the 3-1 defeat against Leeds United last time out, Sean Dyche is under pressure, but the 54-year-old is confident Evangelos Marinakis won't change manager yet again.

Speaking after the loss at Elland Road, Dyche said: "The owners have always had contact with me.

"The owner is well aware, and I made it clear to him, that this would never go smoothly all the way. We have seen both good days and a few less good days."

"I don't think a single match will be so decisive that he will suddenly say: 'Okay, we have to change everything in the club for the fourth time'."

However, the Englishman's long-term future at the City Ground could now be in doubt, with it recently being revealed the Tricky Trees are set to seriously consider a move for Marco Silva in the summer, at which point his Fulham contract will expire.

Although Dyche's side's Premier League status is in doubt, they remain in a strong position to avoid the drop, and they are looking at targets ahead of the summer transfer window.

That is according to a report from Football Insider, which states Nottingham Forest are the frontrunners to sign Celtic star Arne Engels at the end of the season, with a cut-price deal now possible.

The Hoops knocked back a £25m bid from Forest for Engels during the January transfer window, but the Scottish side may be willing to accept lower offers in the summer.

The Tricky Trees have emerged as the favourites in the race for the Celtic star, and he could be ready to test himself in the Premier League...

The central midfielder has spent the last two seasons in Glasgow, during which time he has established himself as a key player, and regularly chipped in with goals and assists.

The former FC Augsburg man is also a very creative player, as evidenced by the fact he has created 35 chances in the Scottish Premiership this season, the highest number in the Celtic squad.

Midfield partner Callum McGregor has spoken very fondly of the four-time Belgium international too, saying: "Maybe people unfairly judge him based on the price tag, but I think he’s a tremendous player who plays with a big heart and big energy and will always get better because he has the right attitude."

It is clear the 22-year-old could now be ready to make the move south of the border, and it is a boost for Forest that he could be available for a cut-price fee this summer, but Engels is not the only midfielder being targeted...
