Newcastle United fan/writer reaction after Spurs 1 Newcastle 2

Spurs 1 Newcastle 2 – Tuesday 10 February 2026 7.30pm

Newcastle United fan/writer reaction from some of our regular contributors on The Mag.

Nat Seaton:

‘A thoroughly deserved win against a very poor Spurs team.

So pleased for Ramsey to get his first goal together with a good performance and what a goal it was too!

So much possession, but lacking a threat again in the final third, but I’m not going to whinge.

A massive three points and away from home.’

Billy Miller:

‘Couldn’t help but fear the worst when we had a goal ruled out for Willock being offside by a sheen of forehead sweat.

It’d been a tremendous first half performance and to go in 0-0 would have been hard. But Thiaw gave us that deserved lead before the break.

The terror came back when Spurs inevitably equalised from their first corner when we’d managed nothing from our previous 400.

But Ramsey’s first goal gave us the victory after some excellent footwork from Gordon.

We were excellent tonight even if the last 15 minutes were a bit dicey.

I thought the much maligned trio of Elanga, Willock and Ramsey were brilliant and they’ll need to continue to be if we’re going to be without Bruno again.’

The Armchair Fan:

‘Get in there!

Cracking result and good performance as well.

Elanga really growing into his role and great to get another away win.

A top night and the day off work tomorrow!

Let’s get on the beers.’

Matt Busby said…:

‘Very good performance, on the front foot from the outset.

So pleased for Ramsey, what a goal, brilliant from Gordon to set him up. His celebration showed how much it meant. Willock also played well and Elanga.

Eddie Howe getting the plaudits from the travelling hordes after the game and rightly so.

Hope Bruno isn’t crocked. Let’s kick on from here. Need to win at Villa Park next.

As for Spurs, two bookings for simulation. They got what they deserved. ‘

Jamie Smith:

‘Doctor Tottenham will see you now.

What a tonic, to secure a rare away win just days after the lows of the weekend.

Perhaps lucky we managed to get one over Spurs before any rejuvenation as Frank is leading them towards a relegation battle.

I’d like to hope we can take this as a boost and kick on at Villa park. Need Bruno to be alright.

Not being bitter as we’ve won, but the VAR offside business is a joke, needs daylight. Nowt wrong with Willock’s goal.’

GToon:

‘A much needed win but all of our issues are there for everyone to see.

Those issues are at either end of the pitch. No keeper and no CF.

That needs to be addressed in the summer and Eddie needs to show no sentiment.’

David Punton:

‘A huge result given what’s been going on lately.

The manager has bagged himself small bit of respite with this priceless win in London – but I’m gonna be harsh, I’d still like to see us manage games better.

Spurs are abject too, so we did enough to see them off.

The VAR farce was tough to take but it proved not to be a turning point. Incredibly there was still time to take the lead at the end of a fist half we bossed.

The issue I have is how we handed the initiative back to Spurs, who got level.

Thanks goodness for Jacob Ramsey who has come up trumps to bag the winning goal.

I just hope we can build on this.

The worry was the withdrawal of Bruno. Let’s hope it’s not serious. ‘
