“Leeds are terrible” – Ex-Chelsea man slams Leeds United in huge meltdown live on radio

Jason Cundy Leeds United

Leeds United have pulled off some incredible results since the start of the year. The Whites turned things around in December and have not looked back as a team.

Daniel Farke’s tactics have seen a huge transformation, with players adapting to new roles and playing their best football so far. Leeds managed to go to Anfield and get a 0-0 draw against Liverpool and then held Manchester United to a draw in the space of four days. Since then, the team have opened a gap between themselves and the relegation zone.

But in recent weeks, teams in and around Leeds have been putting points on the board. And they had a very challenging set of fixtures; facing Nottingham Forest on Friday and Chelsea days after. The Whites recorded a huge win to get some breathing space between themselves and the 17th placed team.

Jason Cundy furious at Leeds United result

On Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge, everyone thought the game had been wrapped up when Cole Palmer scored a penalty in the 58th minute. Daniel Farke’s side looked lacklustre, but a quick substitution turned the game around. On came Noah Okafor, and within the next 15 minutes.

Chelsea ended up drawing the game from a winning position, and many fans and former players have not been pleased. Jason Cundy was furious at Leeds United picking a point on Tuesday night:

“I am absolutely fuming. I have just left Stamford Bridge absolutely fuming.

“I can’t take any joy or pleasure out of the Spurs result. I mean, how have we not won that game?

“How have we not won that game? Leeds are terrible, they are absolutely terrible.

“I feel sick. I genuinely feel sick about what I have just watched at Stamford Bridge.

“It is almost inconceivable that we have not won that game. We were 2-0 up, they scored the next goal and then, I can’t talk about it anymore.”

“We were 2-0 up and cruising and then we get a punch on the nose and reel for 15-20 minutes, and then Leeds somehow get back into it.

“I was then more worried about Leeds going on and winning it. They were terrible by the way Leeds, absolutely terrible.

“The story is that they were terrible. We threw it away. Then Cole Palmer at the end – wowzers. He missed from two yards or a yard was it?

“Let’s just go to a break, I feel sick.”

Huge result on the night

Jason Cundy underestimated Leeds United; this year the Whites have put up a respectable fight in all their games against big teams. Barring the defeat to Arsenal a few games back, they have gone toe-to-toe with some of the league’s best teams. His explanation that Chelsea were terrible does not hold; the Blues were by far the worst team in the second half of the game once Leeds had made their changes.

Daniel Farke deserves a lot of credit for this comeback, and fans should take a lot from this result – it could be very crucial come the end of the season.
