James Tarkowski makes indirect comment to Thierno Barry after Everton 1-2 Bournemouth

Everton missed an opportunity to move into the top six with a win against Bournemouth on Tuesday evening.

The Toffees knew that victory would see them move above Liverpool and into the European spots, but they failed to take advantage.

David Moyes’ side completely collapsed in the second-half, as Bournemouth came back from one goal down to win 2-1.

HOW on earth have Everton ended up losing that? 😡

Speaking after the game, James Tarkowski made an indirect comment to Thierno Barry, who had an evening to forget.

James Tarkowski disappointed with Thierno Barry’s missed chance in Everton vs Bournemouth

Barry missed an absolute sitter against Bournemouth and probably had his worst game in months, which resulted in Moyes dragging him off just after the hour mark.

Tarkowski, speaking to the Premier League post-match, made an indirect comment to the French centre-forward, admitting that you can’t afford to miss chances like that.

“We got ourselves in the lead and then we needed to hold onto the lead and hopefully add to it,” Tarkowski stated.

“We had a couple of chances that we didn’t take and that is the story here recently. If you go 2-0, you’d hope that would have been the game done here but ultimately, we gave away two goals to a good side.

“All goals hurt, but especially a set-piece and a cross to the back post. Ultimately we needed to stop both tonight.”

Everton now have a two-week break to reflect

Everton aren’t in the FA Cup, as they were defeated by Sunderland in the third round, so they won’t be in action this weekend.

That means the Toffees have a couple of weeks off, with their next fixture against Manchester United not until the 23rd of February.

What is going so wrong at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for Everton? 😳

It is now less than one win in every three following the loss against Bournemouth… 😤

Moyes should seriously reflect on his team selection during this period, with Vitalii Mykolenko proving to be far too error-prone.

He was one of the worst performers, along with Barry, against Bournemouth, so surely it’s time to give Adam Aznou a chance.

Players like Idrissa Gana Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye will also benefit from this break, as they’ve looked tired since returning from the African Cup of Nations.
