Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Thursday night away at Brentford
Arsenal remain top of the Premier League table after 25 fixtures. They have Manchester City chasing them down in 2nd place. The Gunners won 3-0 at home against Sunderland last time out.
Striker Viktor Gyokeres scored twice against the Black Cats at the Emirates Stadium. Midfielder Martin Zubimendi also found the net. Here is a look at their predicted line-up against Brentford on Thursday night...
Arsenal predicted XI vs Brentford: goalkeeper and defence
GK: David Raya: Arsenal’s number one has made 32 appearances in all competitions this season as he prepares to face his former club Brentford. He has kept 18 clean sheets, 13 of which have come in the league.
RB: Jurrien Timber: The versatile defender has been an important player for the Gunners. He joined back in 2023 from Ajax and has adapted well to life in England.
CB: William Saliba: He will be eyeing a clean sheet against the Bees. The centre-back is also a massive threat from set pieces at the other end of the pitch.
CB: Gabriel: The Brazilian has formed a solid partnership at the heart of the backline with Saliba. Like his teammate, he also likes to chip in the with the odd goal when he goes up for corners.
LB: Riccardo Calafiori: He started against Sunderland and Arteta has a big decision to make on whether to give him the nod again. If not, Piero Hincapie and Myles Lewis-Skelly are waiting in the wings if needed.
Arsenal predicted XI vs Brentford: midfield and attack
CM: Martin Zubimendi: Arsenal landed him last summer from Real Sociedad. He has since made a positive impression and managed to get on the scoresheet against Sunderland.
CM: Declan Rice: The ex-West Ham man is an influential figure for the Gunners in the middle of the park. He will be looking to lead them to another three points against Brentford amid pressure from Manchester City below them.
CAM: Eberechi Eze: It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Eze come in at the Brentford Community Stadium to freshen things up. Arteta is having to manage Kai Havertz’s minutes as he continues to get back into the swing of things following his spell on the sidelines with injury.
RW: Noni Madueke: Bukayo Saka missed out against both Chelsea and Sunderland and Arsenal need to make checks on him again. If he is unavailable still, Madueke will start again and he likes to cut in on his left foot from the right glank.
LW: Gabriel Martinelli: Leandro Trossard went off with injury against the Black Cats and is now a doubt. That will pave the way for Martinelli to play and his pace and power should cause problems to the Bees’ defensive department.
ST: Viktor Gyokeres: He has split opinion since his switch from Sporting Lisbon last year but will be in confident mood after his brace in their last game. The forward has likely done enough to warrant a starting position against Brentford as he looks to add to his tally.
