**Nuno’s substitutions have improved in recent weeks, but one of his decisions really cost us vs Manchester United.**
The Hammers bottled yet another lead in the dying moments as Sesko flicked the ball into the back of the net in additional time.
The first half was very boring and cagey, but the Hammers stole a march early in the second period through Tomas Soucek.
Despite being a goal up and being desperate for three points, it was good to see Nuno not completely park the bus.
His subs showed that, the first sub was Wilson for Taty after 70 minutes, Taty worked so hard he had to come off and Wilson was the only striker, so it made sense.
He then brought on Magassa and Scarles for Potts and Diouf which made sense, again both players were tiring after working so hard and he made straight swaps rather than switching formation.
Finally, this is where it went wrong. A minute from time Nuno brought on both Adama and Walker-Peters for Bowen and Summerville.
Despite taking off our best two attacking outlets, that wasn’t the problem with the change, the players coming in were the right ones too.
My problem with it was that he put them on the wrong side. He played Adama on the left helping out Scarles, and KWP on the right helping out AWB.
They really should have swapped them, United were coming down our left with Mbuemo and Bruno Fernandes, Scarles couldn’t cope, he was giving Mbuemo too much space to cross.
For some reason Adama just wasn’t dropping back to help the youngster, there were enough warnings until it finally cost us.
Bryan Mbuemo’s cross found Sesko at the front post who flicked it into the back of the net in additional time, breaking West Ham hearts.
I struggle to blame Nuno directly for the result, he got the tactics spot on. I just wish he put the defender on the side we were getting attacked down or Adama worked a bit harder by tracking back.
