West Ham and Senegal star El Hadji Malick Diouf believes that he has a big responsibility to perform at a high level following the Hammer’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League on Monday night.
The 21-year-old was a star performer at the London Stadium as he kept the likes of Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo at an arm’s length throughout the 90 minutes.
With West Ham being denied a victory through Benjamin Sesko’s 96th minute equalizer, Diouf believes he played a crucial part in his side gaining an important point on home soil.
“We knew it was going to be a difficult game, because they are a really good team. We’ve seen that recently, because they won their last four games before tonight,” Diouf said according to West Ham’s official website.
“It was really tough, but we had good energy and emotions, and we did well. We have to find consistency because we need more points to stay in the league, and we will keep fighting to do that.
“It’s my job to try and win every game, and to try and help us score goals. We have lots of talented players in the team, so it’s up to me to look forward and try to get assists in every game. Thankfully I played a part today, and we’ll all keep working.”
