The London Football Awards have announced their nominees for next month’s gala, with stars from Mikel Arteta’s and Renee Slegers’ sides in contention for the top prizes.
Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice are shortlisted for Premier League Player of the Year alongside Harry Wilson (Fulham), Igor Thiago (Brentford) and Moises Caicedo (Chelsea). Meanwhile, Alessia Russo, Emily Fox and Kim Little join Keira Walsh (Chelsea) and Olivia Holdt (Sp*rs) on the WSL Player of the Year shortlist.
David Raya is nominated for Goalkeeper of the Year, up against Caoimhin Kelleher (Brentford), Grant Smith (Bromley), Lize Kop (Sp*rs Women) and Bernd Leno (Fulham).
Unsurprisingly, Arteta is in the running for Manager of the Year. He faces competition from Brentford’s Keith Andrews – his opposite number tomorrow – as well as Millwall’s Alex Neil, Sp*rs Women’s Martin Ho and Bromley’s Andy Woodman, who was Arsenal’s head of goalkeeping during Arteta’s first 18 months at London Colney.
Off the pitch, Eberechi Eze and Lotte Wubben-Moy have both been shortlisted for Community Champion awards.
Former Gunner Ashley Cole will also receive an award recognising his ‘outstanding contribution to London football’.
Now in its sixth year, the awards are organised by Bob and Megs Wilson’s Willow Foundation, which provides unique experiences for young adults in the UK living with life-limiting illnesses.
