West Ham United were pegged back by Manchester United in heartbreaking fashion on Tuesday night.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side looked to have secured a huge win over the Red Devils, with West Ham United leading deep into stoppage time thanks to Tomas Soucek’s goal.
It was another fine Hammers performance and safety appeared to be in sight for them at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Soucek the scorer but did anyone outshine him for West Ham?

However, a stunning late goal from Benjamin Sesko ensured Michael Carrick’s side would leave with a point.
It’s difficult to be too critical of the Irons following West Ham 1-1 Manchester United. Still, the situation they are in towards the bottom of the Premier League means that draws don’t do them much good.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the winners and losers from the game.
Losers
Callum Wilson
Keeping Callum Wilson during the January transfer window was a good thing for West Ham. While he might not offer the energy that Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe offer up front, Wilson is a much better source of goals.
MORE WEST HAM STORIES
Well, at least he should be. Wilson was in a great position to seal the game towards the end of the contest but opted to shoot instead of squaring to teammates in a much better position.
On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you that West Ham will stay up this season? 🤔

Ollie Scarles
Again, it’s hard to be too critical of Ollie Scarles. Sesko still had a lot to do when Bryan Mbeumo crossed late on, but Scarles did back off to allow the winger to cross.
Football is decided upon fine margins. Scarles really should have done more to stop the cross in the first place.
That may be harsh but there’s no good sugarcoating things given the dire situation in which the club find themselves.
Nuno Espirito Santo
Nuno’s side played very well and his system largely denied Carrick’s side. That would deserve credit but, again, West Ham aren’t in a position to look back on things positively unless they lead to a meaningful outcome.
Sadly, Nuno will again face questions about his in-game management.

Winners
Tomas Soucek
Soucek scored another fine goal and a record-breaking one at that.
The midfielder’s goal was so good because of its simplicity. Really, it all came down to the kind of late run into the box that a certain Frank Lampard became famed for.
He was brilliant throughout and his performance was worthy of a goal.
Indeed, by finding the back of the net, Soucek became the highest scoring Czech player in Premier League history (39).
West Ham will need a few more if they’re going to stay up.
El Hadji Malick Diouf
What was so gutting about the Scarles situation was that the man who he replaced was brilliant on the night. Indeed, it was another fine display from El Hadji Malick Diouf.
Man United fans were impressed with Diouf and for good reason. The visiting frontline couldn’t find a way past him, while it was his long ball that helped tee up Soucek’s goal.
The Senegal international continues his recent good form and shows little sign of slowing down.
