David Ornstein drops Spurs, Thomas Frank bombshell as Leeds United leapfrog into 15th

Leeds United leapfrogged Spurs on Tuesday night with a draw against Chelsea as Thomas Frank’s defeat to Newcastle United has cost him his job.

United came into this week knowing that retaining a six-point gap to the bottom three would be a tough ask, given our trip to Chelsea.

However, a valiant point on the road at Stamford Bridge sees Leeds match West Ham’s late heartbreaking draw at home to Manchester United.

Leeds United leapfrog Tottenham with surprise draw against Chelsea

Lukas Nmecha and Noah Okafor’s stunning comeback for Leeds away at Chelsea sees us remain six clear of the bottom three.

However, it also actually sees us move up a place in the Premier League table to 15th as well.

That’s because Spurs’ wretched run under Thomas Frank continued last night when they were beaten at home by Newcastle United.

A 2-1 loss sees Spurs remain on 29 points and five clear of the drop. Theyt have slumped to 16th as Leeds moved up a place in the process.

That defeat at home to Eddie Howe’s Magpies has proven to be the final straw for Frank in North London.

It’s now been confirmed on Wednesday morning that the Danish coach has been dismissed from his position at Spurs. David Ornstein has revealed that Leeds’ rivals have confirmed the decision with Frank:

Leeds still have to play Spurs later this season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. That fixture now looks a potentially pivotal one for both sides. That fixture takes place on matchweek 36, Leeds’ penultimate away game.

Spurs are winless in 2026 in the Premier League. Their most recent victory came in a 1-0 triumph away to Crystal Palace in late December.
