Tottenham have dismissed Thomas Frank as head coach following the side’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle.

Frank’s position had come under increasing scrutiny after a desperately poor run of results, with the club languishing down in 16th in the Premier League table.

The north London outfit had gone seven matches without picking up a league win entering into Tuesday’s contest and the loss to Newcastle – Spurs’ eighth of the top-flight campaign – proved to be Frank’s final match in charge.

There had been a growing feeling of animosity towards Frank from Spurs fans in recent weeks and months and the Dane was targeted with audible chants of ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 52-year-old, formerly the manager of manager of Brentford, leaves his post after just eight months at the helm.
