Fulham are now pushing to secure the signature of a "prolific" new striker in the summer, in an effort to convince Marco Silva to stay.
Silva's Craven Cottage future in doubt
Ahead of the Cottagers' trip to the Etihad Stadium this evening, Manchester City Pep Guardiola has been singing Silva's praises, saying: "Defensively and offensively, they are really good. Marco is one of the top, top managers I've faced. He is a top, top manager and has the destiny to be one of top ones in a few years."
However, the west Londoners may have their work cut out trying to keep hold of their manager, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, and Nottingham Forest are becoming increasingly confident about luring the 48-year-old to the City Ground.
Although Silva's side have lost their last two Premier League matches, they are still in position to push for the European places this season, especially considering they strengthened during the January transfer window, signing Oscar Bobb from Manchester City.
However, with rival clubs sniffing around, Shahid Khan may have to splash the cash again in the summer, and Fulham are now pushing hard to secure the signature of PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi, after attempting to get a deal done in January.
The Cottagers have remained in contact over a deal for Pepi, despite missing out last month, and a deal could be possible for the slightly reduced amount of £30m at the end of the season, down from £32.2m on deadline day.

Silva was determined to get a new striker through the door during the winter, and Khan & co are hoping the addition of the PSV star will convince him to stay, with talks over a new contract currently ongoing.
"Prolific" Pepi could be ideal Jimenez replacement
It has recently emerged that Fulham aren't planning to offer Raul Jimenez a contract extension, with the Mexcian's current deal set to expire at the end of the campaign.
It is perhaps a little surprising Jimenez is being allowed to leave, given that he has picked up four goals and one assist in his last nine Premier League outings, but at 34-years-old, the experienced striker could be in the twilight years of his career.
Pepi, on the other hand, is only 23, and prior to breaking his arm, the centre-forward had been performing very well for PSV, picking up 11 goals and two assists in 22 matches across all competitions this season.
Having also netted 13 times in 34 outings for the USA, the American, who has been called "prolific" by scout Jacek Kulig, could be a solid replacement for Jimenez, and it would be an added bonus if the addition of the striker convinces Silva to remain at Craven Cottage.
