Jack Grealish has received a £1,000 court bill after running a red light in his Lamborghini. The 30-year-old Premier League star, who is currently on loan at Everton from Manchester City, was prosecuted by Merseyside Police after the traffic incident in September 2025.

The force said Grealish's £210,000 supercar was caught on camera going through a red light on Leeds Street, on the outskirts of the city centre. The incident occurred just after 11.30pm on September 12, the night before Grealish played for the Toffees in a 0-0 draw with his boyhood club Aston Villa.

The England international, whose World Cup dream appears over due to a broken foot, was prosecuted and convicted for failing to tell police if he, or another person, was at the wheel of the car at the time.

Grealish was issued with six penalty points in a closed-door hearing in Liverpool last week, and ordered him to pay a fine, costs, and a court fee totalling £1,044. In the criminal case brought against him, court records show Grealish did not enter a plea and the matter was dealt with last Thursday in a single justice procedure - a controversial fast-track process for adult defendants accused of minor offences. The case is tried by written evidence without a formal courtroom hearing.

Kevin Scott, the safer roads unit manager for Merseyside Police, told Liverpool Magistrates' Court that Grealish’s sky blue sportscar was caught on camera running the red light.

His statement declared: "At 11.36pm on September 12 2025, a Lamborghini motor vehicle… was travelling along Leeds Street/Vauxhall Road, Liverpool, Merseyside, when it passed the traffic signal 1.4 seconds after it had changed to red."

A letter to a property in Manchester in September by police, asking Grealish to confirm who was driving his car that night. Mr Scott said police again attempted to contact the 30-year-old footballer with a letter sent to a £5.6million property in Cheshire in November. He said Grealish had "failed to comply" with the request to identify the driver.

A charge of running a red light was ultimately withdrawn by police, but Grealish was found guilty of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle when required. Magistrate Paul Farquhar duly issued Grealish with six points on his licence, a fine of £660, and ordered him to pay £120 in costs and a £264 victim surcharge.

Grealish confirmed earlier this week that his season had been ended by his foot injury. He posted an Instagram image of himself in a hospital bed after surgery, declaring: "Didn’t want the season to end like this but that’s football, gutted. Surgery done and now all focus on getting back fit. I know for sure I will come back fitter, stronger and better than before.

"The support I’ve had since coming to this unbelievable club has meant the world to me. The staff, my teammates and especially the fans have been incredible and I absolutely love representing this club.

"I'll be backing the lads all the way and doing everything I can to get back as soon as possible. Thank you again for all the love, it means so much."

He received a torrent of support from the world of football, with City star Erling Haaland, Manchester United's Harry Maguire, Everton's Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and England stars Declan Rice and Morgan Rogers among those to wish him well.
