Van Hecke to return and there's progress with Veltman

So will there be a double Dutch return for Albion at Villa Park?

Holland centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke is set to return to the side after a hamstring issue.

Head coach Fabian Hurzeler confirmed he was fine as he spoke to the media on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile right-back Veltman has removed strappings from around his knee and is a contender to return.

Hurzeler said: “He put the things away now and he trained without it today. He looked sharp, so he might be ready.”

Albion have gone with Ferdi Kadioglu on the right of defence and Max De Cuyper on the left of late.

Veltman offers the option of a more conventional right-back.

Hurzeler spoke about having the right players on the pitch to see a game through.

Could that mean a midfield return for Jack Hinshelwood or even James Milner?

Hinshelwood went on as substitute late in the defeat by Crystal Palace and looks a contender to start at the venue where he made both his Premier League debut and his first start.

It will be interesting to see whether Harry Howell retains his place wide on the right.

There look to be options up front and at No.10.

Pascal Gross has looked more effective further forward and Danny Welbeck will be pushing for a start.

Possible Albion XI: Verbruggen; Kadioglu, van Hecke, Dunk, De Cuyper; Hinshelwood, Baleba; Gomez, Gross, Mitoma; Welbeck.
