Thomas Frank was relieved of his duties as Tottenham Hostpur manager on Wednesday morning. Tottenham made the decision after they were beaten at home to Newcastle United, extending their winless run in the Premier League to eight games.
A club statement said: "The club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today.
"Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together. However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.
"Throughout his time at the Club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the Club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future."
Thomas Frank on the touchline against Newcastle
The Telegraph have now posted a stunning report which claims that Frank's 'obsession with Arsenal sealed his fate.'
Frank raised eyebrows in his first press conference after being unveiled as Tottenham manager when he said: "I haven’t seen a team that is not losing any football matches. There is Arsenal, that we can’t mention, in the Premier League. So I made my first rookie mistake there.”
It has now been claimed that Frank kept banging on about Arsenal to Spurs players behind the scenes. One source said told the Telegraph:
“He was constantly going on to the players about Arsenal and they quickly got sick of it. Even before and after the game at the Emirates, he was telling them how good Arsenal were. The feeling among some was very much ‘just shut up about Arsenal’.”
He also caused a stir among Spurs fans when he was seen drinking from an Arsenal mug ahead of their match against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in January.
Frank later defended himself and said he did not realise the mug he was drinking from was an Arsenal one. He said: "I definitely did not notice it. It would be completely stupid of me to take it if I knew. It's a little bit sad in football that I need to be asked about it. I would never do something that stupid."
Nevertheless, his actions led to multiple photoshopped images emerging on social media showing Frank as an Arsenal supporter. It is said that these were not just shared among Spurs fans, but also by members of their staff and players.

While Frank enjoyed great success in the Champions League, Tottenham are currently in a perilous position in England's top tier. Frank leaves the club with Tottenham in 16th on 29 points, just five points above the relegation zone.
Spurs have now started their search to replace Frank. They need their form to turn around at the earliest opportunity with relegation to the Championship a serious possibility.
GIVEMESPORT understands that there are three clear names appreciated by the Spurs board - Roberto De Zerbi, Mauricio Pochettino and Andoni Iraola.
De Zerbi is currently a free agent after leaving Marseille, while Pochettino and Iraola manage the United States and Bournemouth respectively.
