Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has delivered an update on Jadon Sancho’s future, with the winger’s Manchester United contract set to expire in the summer.
After falling out of favour at Manchester United, Jadon Sancho was loaned to Aston Villa at the beginning of the season.
Sancho joined United in a deal worth £73 million in 2021 after establishing himself in the Bundesliga as one of Europe’s most exciting youngsters.
It proved to be an expensive mistake as Sancho has now been sent on loan three times.

While Aston Villa are enjoying a strong campaign, sitting third in the Premier League, Sancho hasn’t pulled up any trees at Villa Park.
As things stand, Sancho has no agreement with Aston Villa beyond his loan deal, so he could become a free agent in the summer.

Unai Emery open to permanent deal for Jadon Sancho
There’s now a possibility that Sancho could stay at Aston Villa beyond this season.

Sancho has scored just one goal in 23 appearances for Villa, but Unai Emery has remained supportive of the winger.
Speaking to the press ahead of Villa’s clash with Brighton in the Premier League, Emery gave an honest response about being open to signing Sancho at the end of the season.
“Not yet, but he is a fantastic player,” Emery said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
“Hopefully he can help us by increasing his qualities in our structure like he is doing.
“He will need another contract, and maybe it could be here. If he plays his best football, we will want him. But also other teams could be involved in the interest for him.”
With Villa covering 80% of Sancho’s wages at the moment, only time will tell if they are willing to offer a new deal that will be accepted by the England international.
Sancho spent last season on loan at Chelsea, but the prospect of a permanent deal was ended by his salary demands and poor performances.
It shows how far Sancho’s stock has dropped in recent years.

Jadon Sancho showed up in the Europa League for Aston Villa
Aston Villa secured a top-eight finish in the Europa League three weeks ago when Sancho scored his first goal for the club.
It gave Villa a 1-0 win over Fenerbahce in Turkey.
Aston Villa went on to beat RB Salzburg to secure second place in the Europa League earlier rounds.
A strong end to the season could see Sancho given a new deal under Emery at Villa Park, if he doesn’t have plans to move elsewhere.
