Premier League home form table ahead of Sunderland vs Liverpool

Where do Sunderland stand in the Premier League when it comes to their home form?

The Black Cats have played 12 times at the Stadium of Light since returning to the top-flight, winning seven and drawing five so far, with 21 goals scored and just nine conceded. Incredibly, no other Premier League side has managed to avoid defeat on their own patch, emphasising the incredible job done by Regis Le Bris. But where exactly does that leave Sunderland on the home league table?

Only Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have taken more points at home than Sunderland this season, while only the former two have conceded fewer goals. What’s more, the Black Cats could leapfrog United into third on this particular table if they beat Liverpool, while defeat for Man City at home to Fulham at the same time would see the two sides draw level on 29 points.

The last time Sunderland lost a home match in league play was 1-0 against QPR back in May, just before the Championship play-offs began. The last time the Black Cats lost a Premier League match at the Stadium of Light was on 13th May, 2017, when they fell 2-0 against Swansea City in their last home game before relegation.

Perhaps the biggest shocks of this table are seeing Tottenham way down in 17th, winning just two of their 12 home games so far, while only Wolves have taken fewer points. Meanwhile, Sunderland’s arch-rivals Newcastle are 10th with seven wins and 23 points from 13 games. That said, Eddie Howe’s men have lost their last two at St. James’ Park, with their last victory coming 4-3 against Leeds in early January.
