Why Oumar Niasse's Tyrique George praise still holds weight despite tough full debut for…

Oumar Niasse’s prediction that Tyrique George would excite for Everton was left up for debate during a difficult full debut on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old started brightly for Everton on his first start following a loan move from Chelsea on transfer deadline day, but faded as David Moyes watched his side allow Bournemouth to fight back and win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Tyrique George lost possession 15 times and failed to complete a single dribble against the Cherries, but his performance offered enough to suggest he will fulfil the words of Niasse.

What would your message to David Moyes be after another loss at home? 😫

Oumar Niasse predicted big things for Tyrique George before Everton 1-2 Bournemouth

Speaking to Everton about George before a sixth game without a win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the 35-year-old said: “I think he’s going to be exciting. He’s going to be someone we look for. He’s sharp. He’s coming from a big club.

“Tuesday night, he starts, the weather is nice, the pitch looks nice, so hopefully he’s going to show what he showed already against Fulham.”

George will surely have better games for Everton than what he showed on his full debut, although he has plenty of ability for Moyes to work with.

Besides the lack of a successful dribble and the 15 losses of possession, the Chelsea loanee did show a desire to get Everton up the pitch.

Sofascore shows that George carried the ball a total distance of 122.9m against Bournemouth, as the England U21 international expressed a desire to take responsibility and drive forward.

Total Ball Carry Distance 122.9m

Recoveries 4

Interceptions 1

Possession Lost 15

Successful Dribbles 0

His ability to eat up ground and surge forward will presumably interest Moyes – who recently complained about the added space available on the pitch at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

George also made four recoveries and one interception, showing a willingness to muck in and contribute defensively which will surely endear him to a pragmatic manager like Moyes.

Could we see George as a number nine? 😮

Hopefully, the Londoner manages to keep his place in the starting XI for the visit of Manchester United next time out, as there is clearly a player in there.
