Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has selected his starting XI to face Brighton in the Premier League this evening.

He has opted to make two changes from the team which drew 1-1 with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Emi Martinez starts in goal behind a defence of Lamare Bogarde, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres and Ian Maatsen.

Amadou Onana and Douglas Luiz operate in the double pivot, with Jadon Sancho, Morgan Rogers and Emi Buendia supporting striker Ollie Watkins.

Villa have won seven of their last nine Premier League games against Brighton and are looking to complete the double over them for the third time, after doing so in 2022-23 and 2023-24.

Emery’s side have won just two of their last seven midweek league games, though both of those victories came against Brighton.

The Seagulls have not won any of their last five away Premier League matches since a 2-0 victory over Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest.

That win is their only victory in their last seven away matches against a manager currently in the competition - the other six came against Kieran McKenna, Ruben Amorim, Ivan Juric, Vítor Pereira, Ange Postecoglou and Enzo Maresca.

Villa starting XI vs Brighton: Martinez; Bogarde, Konsa, Mings, Maatsen; Onana, Luiz; Sancho, Rogers, Buendia; Watkins.

Subs: Bizot, Wright, Lindelof, Digne, Torres, Barkley, Bailey, Abraham, Alysson.
