Liverpool team confirmed to face Sunderland in the Premier League.

Arne Slot has made two changes for Liverpool’s clash against Sunderland in the Premier League at the Stadium of Light.

The Reds boss has selected Wataru Endo at right-back amid a crisis in the position. Dominik Szoboszlai, who deputised in the role in last Sunday’s 2-1 loss at Manchester City, was sent-off in the dying embers and serves a one-game ban. Jeremie Frimpong (groin) and Conor Bradley (knee) are injured while Joe Gomez can only make the bench after a hip issue.

Endo is handed a first Premier League start this season and is selected ahead of Curtis Jones, who could have been a makeshift option. Calvin Ramsay continues to be overlooked despite being an out-and-out full-back. Endo has made only seven league appearances so far this term.

Meanwhile, Andy Robertson replaces Milos Kerkez at left-back. Given the list of absentees, with Alexander Isak (broken leg), Giovanni Leoni (knee), Jayden Danns and Stefan Bajcetic (both hamstring) unavailable, there is a chance for Kieran Morrison to be in the match-day squad.

A victory for sixth-placed Liverpool will see them close the gap to two points behind Chelsea, in fifth, during the race for Champions League qualification. However, newly-promoted Sunderland, one of this season’s surprise packages, are the only team in the top flight that boast an unbeaten home record.

Liverpool: Alisson, Endo, Van Dijk, Konate, Wirtz, Mac Allister, Salah, Gakpo, Ekitike, Robertson, Gravenberch.

Subs: Mamardashvili, Gomez, Kerkez, Chiesa, Jones, Nyoni, Ramsay, Morrison, Ngumoha.
