After Frank: Two more of Leeds United’s rival managers under huge pressure

Leeds United jumped above Tottenham in the Premier League table last night, and now the battle to stay in the division has become a lot more intense.

West Ham’s resurgence under Nuno Espirito Santo has multiple clubs in the bottom half looking over their shoulders right now.

Leeds United are still one of them, but our form since the start of December suggests that we should be in with a great chance of survival. That is, if we continue at this pace.

Tottenham take not-so-surprising decision to sack Thomas Frank after dropping to 16th

Leeds’ spirited draw last night away at Chelsea was the latest show of fight from Daniel Farke and his side.

Juxtapose that with Spurs and it’s night and day. Thomas Frank’s men faced Newcastle United at home, who have blown hot and cold all season, especially on their travels.

However, a 2-1 away win for Eddie Howe’s men proved to be the straw that broke the camel’s back for Spurs’ board. On Wednesday morning, they confirmed the decision to dismiss Frank from his position.

Leeds’ draw and Spurs’ loss means the two clubs switch positions. United are into 15th with a six-point gap to relegation, while the North London club are 16th and only five clear.

Sean Dyche, Fabian Hurzeler under mounting pressure as Leeds United hope to climb Premier League table

It’s not just Frank that was under pressure coming into this midweek slate of fixtures. After defeat at Elland Road on Friday, I noted that tension is building at Nottingham Forest regarding Sean Dyche’s position.

They kick off against Wolves at home right now, and anything but a win against the league’s basement club will only raise further doubts over Dyche’s ability to keep the Tricky Trees up.

Elsewhere, the side just a point above Leeds, Brighton are also in a somewhat worrying position. They have also just kicked off against Aston Villa, with reports surfacing of backroom concerns regarding Fabian Hurzeler.

Hurzeler was subjected to some chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” by home fans at the AMEX Stadium as they lost to Crystal Palace at the weekend.

While the Daily Mail report that Hurzeler’s position isn’t in immediate danger, the ever-changing relegation scrap could prompt a re-think. Let’s be honest, once your own fans chant for you to be sacked, it’s a situation unlikely to fully recover.

Full backing for Farke and a sense of calm at Elland Road is probanly just the tonic as clubs around us continue to panic.
