Nottingham Forest have sacked head coach Sean Dyche.

The decision to axe the 54-year-old comes after Wednesday night's 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the City Ground. It left the Reds just three points above the relegation zone with 12 games remaining.

Dyche became Forest's third manager of the season when he was appointed in October. Owner Evangelos Marinakis had already dispensed with Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou at that point - the former three games into the campaign and the latter after a disastrous 39-day tenure.

The Reds are now on the lookout for their fourth boss in the space of barely five months. For whoever comes in, the absolute priority will be to ensure the club's Premier League survival but there is also a big Europa League play-off with Fenerbahce on the horizon.

Dyche's reign lasted 25 games. During that time he oversaw 10 wins, six draws and nine defeats.

Inconsistency was a hallmark of the former Everton and Burnley chief's spell in charge. He led the Reds to some brilliant results against the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Porto, but he was also at the helm for some woeful performances.

A statement from the club said: "Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach. We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the Club and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time."
