Everton slipped to a frustrating defeat on Tuesday night against Bournemouth – and Charly Alcaraz and Beto should be considerations for David Moyes moving forwards.
The Toffees let slip a lead against the Cherries at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and were made to pay for wastefulness in attack.
Who was Everton’s biggest let down in that defeat to Bournemouth? 😤
There were a number of really poor displays out there! ❌

Thierno Barry missed a couple of sitters, and in the end the visitors came back through Rayan and Amine Adli.
A lot of the talk has been about Everton’s struggles at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. It’s now six games without a victory at home and that is certainly a problem.
Bournemouth’s Ryan Christie admitted the Hill Dickinson Stadium atmosphere felt ‘hostile’, but Everton still couldn’t grind out a win.
Barry has come in for a lot of stick since the game, but he can now have no complaints for being dropped now, which would mean Beto starting.
And Moyes should therefore consider a combination that has borne fruit previously.

Barry went on a decent little scoring run recently, but it’s now three without a goal.
Moyes has to be ruthless, and Beto – as much as he himself has struggled – deserves an opportunity.
And if Moyes is going to turn to the Guinea-Bissau striker, then he would be wise to also throw Charly Alcaraz back into the starting XI.
We haven’t seen him start for Everton since late December due to the injury he picked up.
But it’s worth remembering that last season, after he arrived at the club in January from Flamengo, he and Beto hit it off rather quickly.
They ended up combining for three goals in the second half of 2024/25, with Alcaraz being the provider for Beto for all three.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could play deeper for Everton
There is a case for Idrissa Gana Gueye to be dropped now following a string of poor performances.
One thing Moyes could do is drop Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall back a bit so that he operates more as an eight.
This would allow Alcaraz to play as the number 10 and play close to Beto.
Does Gueye need to be dropped? 🤔
Idrissa Gana Gueye.
Dewsbury-Hall has shown himself to be a goal threat, but he also has an excellent engine which could see him really shine in Gueye’s position.
He is also great at breaking the lines, either with a pass or by carrying the ball.
With Barry struggling again, it just feels like Beto is worth a go up top and we know that Alcaraz has shown he likes playing with him and has that understanding of his game.
If Dewsbury-Hall had to drop back in order to re-establish this partnership, then so be it.
