Leeds United handed huge relegation boost amid sensational Nottingham Forest developments

Nottingham Forest

Leeds United have been slowly distancing themselves from the battle at the bottom of the table. The Whites managed a huge win over Nottingham Forest last week as they inched closer to safety.

But their next game was against a really good Chelsea side. Daniel Farke managed to beat Enzo Maresca at Elland Road a few months ago, but the Blues had a new coach in Liam Rosenior. He had won seven of his first nine games before the two sides met at Stamford Bridge. When Leeds visited Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, they were outclassed in the first half as Chelsea took the lead. The home side doubled their advantage just before the hour mark, and things were looking bleak. Daniel Farke made the decision to throw on an attacker, and the game flipped on its head within 20 minutes as the away side salvaged the draw.

Nottingham Forest make huge managerial decision

With the draw on Tuesday, the Whites have now gone into 15th place in the Premier League. They are six points above the relegation zone, and three points ahead of rivals Nottingham Forest. Speaking of Forest, the ownership made a decision on Thursday morning after failing to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night. In a statement, the club announced that they have parted ways with head coach Sean Dyche.

The 54-year old was hired back in October with Forest slipping down the table. He managed to win 10 out of 25 matches in charge, but it seems it was not enough to keep him till the end of the season.

Advantage Leeds United

The winners in this will be Leeds, as they continue to pull away from the group at the bottom of the table. Sacking your manager at this point of the season brings a lot of complications. Now, Forest need to get a new coach through the door who has to familiarize himself with this group of players and find a way to make his football work.

Leeds on the other hand, are stable after keeping faith with Daniel Farke in January. With 12 games left in the campaign, fans will have a lot of hope that safety is achievable. Especially after the results the club have picked up since January. The Whites are the best team in and around the bottom half of the table, and hopefully they can continue their run till the end of the season.
