Nottingham Forest now looking at hiring a manager who is a big fan of Nuno Espirito Santo

As Nottingham Forest fans tossed and turned in the early hours of the morning following a drab 0-0 with Wolves, Evangelos Marinakis was busy plotting his next move.

The Forest owner sat in the stands looking thoroughly dejected – along with roughly 28,000 Reds supporters – as the Reds wasted a host of chances in a goalless draw with one of the worst Premier League teams in history.

Sum up Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest tenure in THREE words

What a mess!

As time clicked over to Thursday, enough was enough and Sean Dyche was handed his P45 and whizzed out of the City Ground in his 4×4, never to be seen on Trentside again.

It means that Forest are looking for a fourth manager of the season, with Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou also being sacked by Marinakis this season.

Nottingham Forest want manager who loves Nuno Espirito Santo

According to The Athletic, former Wolves boss Vitor Pereira is now a candidate to replace Dyche at the City Ground.

The boss was sacked by the Molineux bosses earlier in the season after failing to win any of the first 10 games of the Premier League campaign. However, he was largely credited with keeping the team in the division the previous year.

Pereira admitted he was a big fan of Espirito Santo when his team played Forest last season, and now he could be about to be tasked with keeping the Reds in the Premier League against all of the odds.

MORE FOREST STORIES

Before managing Wolves, Pereira has a history managing Fenerbahce, Corinthians, Flamengo and Al Shabab in the Middle East, whilst he’s also worked with Porto and Olympiacos previously.

Dyche can have no issues with his sack and ultimately, it now appears abundantly clear that his methods are tired and dated when it comes to the Premier League in the modern era.

Forest need a head coach again

With 90 points still to play for in the campaign, Forest hit the panic button extremely quickly by appointing Dyche with so much of the season to play.

Dyche is a firefighter and it’s at this stage of the campaign that Forest should have been making the call to the man who has proved an expert in survival in the past.

Had Forest appointed a competent head coach after Postecoglou left, this mess could have been avoided with such a strong squad of players.

Now, Pereira might be ideal on the basis that he’s a respected coach and would bring modern-day ideas to the City Ground and likely get the players operating with smiles on their faces once again.
