Opinion: It's so obvious who Nottingham Forest should appoint after sacking Sean Dyche

Nottingham Forest sacked Sean Dyche in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Just hours after Nottingham Forest were held to a goalless draw by Wolves, Evangelos Marinakis dismissed Sean Dyche.

Dyche was in charge for 3 months and 22 days, so it was a very short-lived tenure back at the City Ground.

Sum up Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest tenure in THREE words

What a mess!

Immediately, focus has turned to who could replace him, and Vitor Pereira is emerging as a leading candidate for Forest.

Pereira would likely be a short-term appointment, however, there is a much better long-term option who is available.

Forest should be going all out to hire him.

Nottingham Forest should try to appoint Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, ending a disappointing eight-month stint.

Frank departed after a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United, which left the North Londoners in 16th place, just above Forest in the Premier League table.

That has dented his reputation, however, the common consensus is that he simply struggled to operate at a club that had to attack the game and play a progressive style of football.

Would absolutely love this… 🤞

Thomas Frank question.

At Brentford, he excelled playing a dynamic counter-attacking brand, which would suit Forest’s players down to the ground.

Frank also has experience in a relegation battle with the Bees and is considered one of the best man managers in the division.

At a time when the Forest dressing room is low in morale, following reported tensions with Dyche, Frank would be able to instantly provide a lift around the training ground and offer an arm around the shoulder approach.

Marinakis should make Frank his first-choice candidate, as the Danish coach would tick several boxes.

Nottingham Forest could jump ahead of Crystal Palace to hire Thomas Frank

Oliver Glasner is due to leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season, and it has been widely speculated that Frank could replace him.

Forest have the chance to jump ahead of the Eagles and hire him immediately, so Marinakis will surely be considering that.

Interestingly, Glasner is of interest to Forest and so too is Fulham’s Marco Silva, but both of those potential appointments will have to wait until the summer.

There will also be stiff competition to appoint the aforementioned duo, so the best and most obvious option seems to be Frank at the moment.
