Nottingham Forest have parted company with Sean Dyche following Wednesday night’s goalless draw against bottom side Wolves.

The result at the City Ground left Forest three points above the drop zone. Dyche’s couldn't find a breakthrough despite having 35 shots.

A statement read: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach.

“We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time.”

Dyche took over in October and steered the club out of the relegation zone after a tough start to the campaign.

He was nominated for the Manager of the Month prize for January following important wins against Brentford and West Ham, plus a point against leaders Arsenal.

However, Forest have opted to make a change after one point from the last couple of games against Leeds and Wolves.

The club is now searching for its fourth manager of the campaign after Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Dyche.

The former Burnley boss departs the City Ground with the highest win percentage (47.1) of the nine Forest managers under Evangelos Marinakis to date.

After the final whistle on Wednesday night, Dyche said: “The owner has been fair to me, without a shadow of a doubt. If anyone chooses to change in football now, that’s their decision. We’ve all seen it.

“People can demand change, and then it’s always whether they change or not. I just work very hard. I care about this club. I’ve made that clear. I’m working very hard.

“If the owner wants to make a change, then that’s up to him, and that’s the way football is now, that’s just the reality of it.

“But I’m not questioning the owner here. He’s been absolutely fair with me from the beginning to the end, and I’ve been fair with him and told him the truth every step of the way.”
