Sean Dyche has left The City Ground after a 0-0 draw with Wolves saw the Reds miss a chance to pull further clear of the relegation zone.

It had been reported in the build-up to the game that Evangelos Marinakis was considering sacking Dyche. And the owner has now acted.

Forest will begin the search for their fourth manager of the season, and there are already some details emerging about Dyche’s short-lived reign.

And there’s one thing that won’t surprise Everton fans too much.

And there is one aspect of it that may jump out to Everton fans.

The publication report that ‘there was a sense that during training sessions, far too much emphasis was placed on running and other physical drills, above working with the ball. Some even felt tired going into matches’.

When Dyche left Everton, The Athletic published the inside story of his final days as manager.

And they said that: “Some players complained about the lack of guidance tactically and in training sessions, craving more detail.

“Some attacking players felt they had too much defensive responsibility and were isolated, leading to slumps in form and confidence. Leading the line or playing on the wings were seen as thankless tasks. Wingers became secondary full-backs at times and were exhausted by the time they reached the final third.”

Dyche’s limitations come for the fore once more

It is very intriguing that Forest have sacked Dyche because in terms of win percentage, it’s actually one of the highest.

Perhaps he can count himself slightly unfortunate.

But everyone knows how Marinakis operates. He is ruthless.

It looks like Dyche ultimately lost the faith of the owner due to a lack of imagination and inventiveness, with perhaps too much emphasis being placed on hard work.

Undoubtedly he has limitations, and he will need to address these ahead of the next job he goes into.
