Leeds United have not had a lot of comebacks this season, with the last one being against Liverpool at Elland Road. But the Whites managed a huge result at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
Coming into the game off the back of a huge boost after a win over relegation rivals Nottingham Forest, there was a lot of optimism for this game. But standing in their way was Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea, who had picked up seven wins from their last nine matches in all competitions.

Over 20 minutes into the game, things were not looking good as Joao Pedro gave the home side the lead. Chelsea went into the break with the advantage, and came out to double their lead in the second period just minutes before the hour mark. Leeds pulled one back from the penalty spot through Lukas Nmecha, and found a second goal six minutes later from quick thinking by Noah Okafor to pounce on a defensive mixup.
Liverpool legend Danny murphy not convinced by Leeds United
The Whites came from 2-0 down to draw the game, leaving many fans and pundits stunned. They have now got the upper hand in the race for safety ahead of their rivals. Some pundits, including Alan Shearer, have backed them to go on and survive at the end of the season. But former Liverpool man Danny Murphy is not totally convinced by Daniel Farke’s men:
“Absolutely I see a lot from Leeds. They have shown quality, they are well organised and they create chances.” he said on BBC MOTD.
“The concern with Leeds is that we have seen them play really well and not win enough games for how well they have played.
“I am thinking of that Newcastle game for example. They played really well there and they ended up losing it late on.
“They played really well at Sunderland away and didn’t win. But if they keep playing how they are then they will be fine.
“I just think they have played at a really high level of performance without picking up the points their performances have deserved.”

Whites are one of the best teams at the bottom of the table
Danny Murphy has a valid point; Leeds United have not always gotten the result they deserve. And a large part of it is down to their quality in attack; in some games that they dominate, they often fluff their lines in front of goal. In a recent game against Everton, they should have taken all three points but missed huge chances to do so in the second half.
Draws are good to put some points on the board, but if Leeds are to stay up, Danny Murphy’s advice should be something Daniel Farke and the players take seriously. Leeds also desperately need Dominic Calvert-Lewin back in the side, his goals have been a huge reason why the team even stand a chance at safety.
