Opinion: Everton's Jack Grealish dealt more bad news as FA make announcement

It’s been a tough period for Jack Grealish, as the Everton winger has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Jack Grealish has recently undergone surgery on a stress fracture to his foot, so Everton were forced to sign a last-minute replacement in the January transfer window.

Tyrique George joined on loan from Chelsea on deadline day, and it’s understood he has an option-to-buy in his contract.

There is speculation that Grealish could still join Everton on a permanent deal, with another loan deemed unlikely by finance expert Stefan Borson.

Although, it remains to be seen if the Toffees will be able to agree a fee with Manchester City, considering they inserted a £50m buy-option clause, which evidently won’t be activated.

Unfortunately, there is potentially more bad news emerging for Grealish, as the FA have just made an announcement.

Jack Grealish’s England hopes fade even further

Despite enjoying a rejuvenation at Everton, registering eight goal involvements in the Premier League, Thomas Tuchel hasn’t called Grealish up to any of his England squads.

The 39-cap England international provides something different to the current options on the left flank in Anthony Gordon and Marcus Rashford.

Grealish is a lot more cultured on the ball and is excellent at playmaking, however, that hasn’t been enough to warrant a call-up in the eyes of Tuchel.

It was looking as though Grealish may get his chance after the World Cup, with Tuchel’s contract due to expire.

However, the FA have now announced that the German manager has extended his deal until 2028, so that may be the end of Grealish’s England career.

Jack Grealish admitted he’s not too concerned about his England chances

Speaking earlier this season, Grealish did actually admit that he’s not too concerned about whether or not he’s called up to the England squad again.

“You know what? I don’t think it’s as deep as everyone says,” the Everton winger said in October.

“At the end of the day, you want to play for the national team but people are doing well in my position. I’m doing well also, but the people picked last month did really well in the two games so that’s fine with me.

“That’s the manager’s decision and I fully respect that.”

It seems Grealish is much more bothered about re-signing for Everton in the summer, as he’s been loving his time on Merseyside.

The 30-year-old has a great relationship with David Moyes.
