Nottingham Forest have already agreed a deal for a new manager after sacking Sean Dyche.
Leeds United’s relegation rivals look set for a boost with the news that Nottingham Forest are set to appoint Vitor Pereira as their new manager.
The Tricky Trees parted ways with Sean Dyche in the early hours of Thursday morning, following a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to bottom side Wolves, which leaves them 17th in the Premier League table, three points above the relegation zone and just three adrift of Leeds in 15th - the two sides separated by Tottenham Hotspur.
Dyche was in charge for just 18 Premier League matches at the City Ground, taking over from Ange Postecoglou. However, he picked up just six wins during that time, and only two in his last 10, taking nine points across that latter period.
Despite the recency of the decision to part ways with Dyche, Evangelos Marinakis has wasted no time appointing a successor, with Sky Sports reporting that Vitor Pereira has agreed to become the next Nottingham Forest manager.
Vitor Pereira the latest in the City Ground dugout
Pereira will be Forest’s fourth manager this season alone in what has been a turbulent period at the City Ground.
The Portuguese coach helped keep Wolves in the Premier League last season, but was sacked earlier this campaign after a poor start, replaced by Rob Edwards. The Midlands side have been contacted by Forest ‘as part of the protocol’, according to Sky.
Should his appointment go through without complication, Pereira will now have the luxury of a seven-day break to get to know his new players before Forest’s next game - a Europa League playoff first leg against Fenerbahce in Istanbul on Thursday.
Pereira’s first Premier League match will be at home against Liverpool on Sunday, 22nd February.
Nottingham Forest’s next five fixtures:
19/02/26: Fenerbahce (A) - Europa League
22/02/26: Liverpool (H) - Premier League
26/02/26: Fenerbahce (H) - Europa League
01/03/26: Brighton (A) - Premier League
04/03/26: Man City (A) - Premier League
Will Vitor Pereira’s Nottingham Forest face Leeds United this season?
Pereira cannot directly influence Leeds United’s fate in the relegation battle this season, with the two sides having already clashed twice in the Premier League in 2025/26.
Both meetings ended in 3-1 home wins, with Forest taking all three points at the City Ground back in November, before Leeds got their revenge last Friday at Elland Road, thanks to goals from Jayden Bogle, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Forest do, however, still have key fixtures against rivals at the bottom of the table to come, including Tottenham away in March and Burnley at home in April.
