Report: Forest close to appointing Pereira after Dyche firing

Vitor Pereira appears to be the man at the City Ground.

[BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel reports Nottingham Forest](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/czd857v5mm3o) is close to appointing the former Wolves boss as its new manager.

Languishing in 17th in the table, only three points up on the drop, Forest fired Sean Dyche late on Wednesday only hours after a frustrating scoreless draw with Wolves in which Forest had 35 shots.

Pereira would become Forest’s fourth manager of the season. Nuno Espirito Santo was fired in September and replaced by former Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Posteglou, who was sacked himself in November leading to the appointment of Dyche.

A 57-year-old native of Espinho, Portugal, Pereira was fired in early November by Wolves after 11 months on the job. He is widely credited with helping to keep the team in the Premier League last year. Prior to coming to England, Pereira managed at clubs all over the world including Porto, Fenerbahce, Corinthians, 1860 Munich and Olympiacos. His teams have won four league titles.

Forest, already out of the FA Cup, is next in action on Feb. 19 when they host Fenerbahce in the first leg of their Europa League playoff tie. Their next Premier League match is set for Feb. 22 away to Liverpool.
