Lewis Miley has come of age at Newcastle United this season after breaking into the first-team ranks two years ago.

Arsenal have reportedly scouted Newcastle United prodigy Lewis Miley ahead of a potential summer swoop.

A product of the club’s academy, the 19-year-old has already made 76 appearances. Miley burst through the ranks two seasons ago during Newcastle’s mounting injury crisis.

Eddie Howe took the Stanley native out of the firing line once the treatment table cleared up. However, Miley has now become an important - and versatile - member of the Toon ranks.

Lewis Miley impressing for Newcastle United

It is a testament to Miley’s progress that fans are concerned by his recent injury setback. He has not featured since the 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa last month with a “dead leg” that could rule him out for a further couple of weeks.

This season has seen the youngster fill in at right-back during Tino Livramento’s and Kieran Trippier’s absence. Naturally a midfielder, deploying Miley in defence - where he has impressed - shows Howe’s faith in his talent.

There was noise last summer about Miley being unsettled due to a lack of first-team opportunities. With 30 games across all competitions, that speculation has subsided, with Newcastle considering improving the terms he signed in January 2024.

Arsenal scout Lewis Miley

While not stood up by NewcastleWorld, Sports Boom claim Arsenal rate Miley and have sent scouts to watch him in recent months. Mikel Arteta will have funds to spend this summer regardless of whether the Gunners clinch the Premier League title.

The article also claims Manchester City and, surprisingly, Aston Villa as potential suitors. Newcastle will want to keep their prized youth product after reluctantly losing Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest two years ago.

Eddie Howe on Lewis Miley

Toon boss Howe hailed Miley’s meteoric rise in a recent TV interview. He told TNT Sports: "He’s done so well at right-back. Sometimes he has played at centre-half, he has taken every single position in his stride.

"He’s adding qualities all the time to his game, adding new things, but I think deep down you've got a really, really good technical footballer who’s a great athlete. He’s also a great person and a great character, so I think you put all those qualities together, I think you’ve got a great player."
