Leeds United
Leeds United fans were disappointed in the January transfer window after a lot of optimism in the previous weeks. After a quiet start to the month, the Whites announced the signing of Facundo Buonanotte.
The move excited fans as they believed more signings would follow. Last year, the team barely made any transfers as they chased promotion to the Premier League. But the 49ers decided to step in this season as they saw the club needed some reinforcements.

What disappointed the fanbase at the end was failing to sign Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. Leeds were one of the only teams after the Norwegian, but had their bid rejected and decided to not pursue a move anymore. The 25-year old ended up at Crystal Palace on deadline day.
Leeds United ace availability revealed for FA Cup clash
It has been over a week since then, and Leeds are in good spirits. The club were able to bounce back from a demoralizing defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League. They managed to take three points off Nottingham Forest in a huge relegation clash, and got a crucial point against Chelsea this week. The Whites can now breathe a bit easy after putting some distance between themselves and the bottom of the table.
Up next for Leeds United is an FA Cup game against Birmingham City on Sunday. The team have received a major boost as FA rules confirm that Facundo Buonanotte can play this weekend, despite featuring for Chelsea in the third round. Rules have been relaxed in recent seasons, and players are not easily cup-tied after one game in the competition.
The FA relaxed rules for ‘cup-tied’ players ahead of the 2025/26 campaign; they are now allowed to represent a maximum of two clubs over the course of the competition. That can either be split between the qualifying rounds and FA Cup proper or two different teams in the proper rounds.

Facundo Buonanotte has the chance to prove himself
Many will expect Daniel Farke to ring in the changes to get some fresh legs in the team ahead of the congested fixture schedule after the international break. It is very likely Leeds fans will see Facundo Buonanotte play the full 90 minutes against Birmingham City.
His last time out in the cup competition saw him get one assist in 69 minutes against Charlton. Sunday will be a great opportunity to show what he can do against lower level opposition with no pressure on him. Time to prove himself to the fanbase and Daniel Farke.
