Newcastle United latest news: Eddie Howe and Unai Emery have a number of injury concerns to deal with ahead of their FA Cup meeting at Villa Park.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa know a spot in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup awaits the winner of their meeting at Villa Park on Saturday evening.
The Magpies head to the midlands keen to avenge the defeat they suffered at the hands of the Villans on home turf less than three weeks ago. However, they will make the trip with serious doubts over the fitness of their captain Bruno Guimaraes after the Brazilian suffered an injury in the dying stages of their win over Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night.
Unai Emery’s side, meanwhile, are currently dealing with an injury crisis in midfield and have fresh doubts over Matty Cash’s fitness after he missed their win over Brighton in midweek. Here, we take a look at the latest injury news affecting both camps ahead of the FA Cup clash between Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
Aston Villa injury news v Newcastle United
John McGinn - out
McGinn will miss the clash with Newcastle United this weekend. McGinn has been sidelined since January with a knee injury and is not expected back in action until April.
Youri Tielemans - out
Tielemans suffered an ankle injury during Villa’s win at St James’ Park last month. The Belgian international has not featured since that day and is expected to remain sidelined for another few weeks.
Boubacar Kamara - out
A knee injury could keep Kamara out for the remainder of the season. Emery confirmed last month that it is unlikely he will have the midfielder back in contention before the campaign comes to an end.

Andres Garcia - out
A hamstring injury will keep Garcia sidelined this weekend. There is hope that he can return to action in the near future, though.
Matty Cash - doubt
Cash missed Villa’s win over Brighton on Wednesday night with a ‘small injury’ - according to Emery. He is regarded as a doubt to feature this weekend, with Emery admitting that he wasn’t sure if the former Nottingham Forest man would be deemed fit enough to return to action against the Magpies.
Newcastle United injury news v Aston Villa
Fabian Schar - out
Schar suffered an ankle ligament injury against Leeds United last month and has been ruled-out of action for the foreseeable future.
Emil Krafth - out
Krafth will not feature against Villa as he continues to be sidelined by a knee injury.
Tino Livramento - out
Livramento suffered a hamstring injury last month. An initial return date in March has been placed on Livramento’s return to first-team action, meaning he will miss the clash against Unai Emery’s side.
Joelinton - out
Joelinton has been ruled out of action with a groin injury. Eddie Howe confirmed that the Brazilian would be out for ‘weeks rather than months’ last month. He won’t feature against Villa but there is hope that he can return in the coming weeks.
Lewis Miley - out
Miley hasn’t featured since their draw with PSG in January with his leg injury continuing to keep him sidelined. A firm timescale on his return to action is yet to be confirmed but he is not expected to feature at Villa Park this weekend.
Bruno Guimaraes - doubt
Guimaraes left the field of play on Tuesday night in some discomfort. The Brazilian had only just returned from an ankle injury a few days prior and there are worries over his fitness levels ahead of the trip to Villa Park. Providing an update on his captain, Howe said on Tuesday night: “I'm not sure, he's a little bit worried,” Howe admitted. “I think that he's not sure [because] he said he's never had a problem with his hamstrings before, so is it cramp? Was it a muscle problem? Probably feels more of an injury to me, but let's wait and see.”
