Scott Parker has joked that Burnley should try turning up late to games more often given the success of their Crystal Palace jaunt.

Wednesday night’s clash at Selhurst Park had to be delayed by 10 minutes after Burnley’s team bus got stuck in South London traffic.

The Clarets, who flew down to London earlier that day, were delayed for roughly an hour on their way to the ground.

While Parker admits the pre-match preparations were far from ideal, it didn’t manage to hamper Burnley’s performance – although they did go two goals down during a bonkers first-half.

It finally brings an end to Burnley’s long winless run, which ends at 16 league games and 108 days.

“Yeah, it wasn't ideal for us really. It was far from ideal,” Parker said of the team bus delay.

“Obviously, we got stuck in traffic. We were practically half a mile out, but it just wasn't moving, so it wasn't ideal and the kick-off got a little bit delayed.

“But yeah, maybe we should have a few more like that?”
