Shock reunion imminent at Leeds United’s rivals Nott’m Forest – Manager agreement in place

Leeds United’s Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest have parted company with Sean Dyche after a draw at home to Wolves on Wednesday night.

United’s fight to stay in the Premier League right now sees us involved with multiple other clubs. Alongside West Ham and Nottingham Forest, Spurs, Crystal Palace and Brighton have been suddenly dragged into view as well.

Thomas Frank has paid with his job in North London. Now, another manager in the bottom half has just seen their position terminated too.

Sean Dyche sacked by Nottingham Forest after 0-0 draw with Wolves

Sean Dyche was up against it at Forest this week after a dismal performance against Leeds at Elland Road. The chance to put it right couldn’t have been better, facing the side sitting bottom of the league, at the City Ground.

35 shots and four big chances outlined Forest’s dominance against Rob Edwards’ Wolves. However, there was no breakthrough.

A seven-v-two breakaway was the best chance of the game, but January signing Lorenzo Lucca blazed his effort high into the stand.

Frustrations boiled over at full-time as boos rang out following a 0-0 draw. And, it’s ultimately cost Dyche his job at the club with overnight confirmation of his dismissal.

Vitor Pereira in direct talks to join Nottingham Forest as Sean Dyche replacement

Our hope over at Elland Road is that Forest fumble into a bad appointment and continue to spiral. Think Javi Gracia and then Sam Allardyce.

Their main focus right now is orchestrating a Premier League return for a familiar face in this season’s relegation battle.

Sky Sports, among other outlets, reported today that Vitor Pereira was in talks with Forest over a shock return to work. Since, Matteo Moretto has reported that an agreement is in place between Pereira and Forest:

“Vitor Pereira will be the next coach of Nottingham Forest. Once the details of his old contract with Wolves are resolved, the Portuguese will be free to begin his new adventure.”

Pereira enjoyed a fine first campaign at Molineux, but a turbulent summer saw a drastic downturn towards the foot of the table. In spite of a winless start, Pereira was rewarded with a new deal shortly before being put to the sword by Daniel Farke.

That new deal immediately backfired with Pereira sacked 45 days later, replaced by Edwards in the dugout.

Now, the 57-year-old journeyman is set to reunite with Evangelos Marinakis, having worked at Olympiacos in 2015.

Nottingham Forest meltdown ideal for Leeds United’s survival hopes

A managerial change at this point in the season is always a massive risk. However, you could very well argue that keeping Dyche was a bigger risk.

Pereira, though, isn’t exactly the sort of appointment that would fill Forest fans with much confidence given what he was serving up at Wolves.

A change was probably needed. But, the problem you have is that any transformative (very good) manager isn’t available right now. And, are they going to be willing to work under the trigger-happy Marinakis with a team on the slide?

Either way, it’s ideal for Leeds what’s unfolding at the City Ground.
