West Ham are said to be pushing to land one of the best possible free agents this summer.
West Ham are said to be interested in one of the most attractive upcoming Premier League free agents on the market. The Hammers are pushing to survive this season having had a rather awful first half of the season.
With the help of some new signings, Nuno Espirito Santo has his men pulling in the same direction, and the Iron are now within three points of safety, albeit with a tough run of fixtures now underway.
With a tough battle ahead, West Ham do not yet know whether they will be in the Premier League or Championship next season, but they must plan for both eventualities when it comes to recruitment.
Likely in case they do survive, the Iron are said to be interested in a move for Fulham star Harry Wilson, who is enjoying a superb season. The Welshman has nine goals and five assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, but he is out of contract this summer.
With Marco Silva yet to commit his future, Wilson is also holding off, although it’s unclear whether the two situations are linked. It was reported last week that Fulham are ready to start a new round of talks, which likely means they are ready to up their offer.
It remains to be seen how Wilson responds to those talks, but according to Football Insider, West Ham are ready to battle Everton for the Welshman if he does end up looking for a new club this summer. It’s claimed West Ham are in the market for a winger and that they view Wilson as a serious option.
Asked about Wilson’s future late last month, Fulham boss Silva said: “If you ask me if it’s going to be easy, I say it’s not going to be easy. The more he scores, many more clubs are going to be around him. This is football business. When a player goes to the end of his contract, this kind of thing is going to happen.
“I know he’s happy in our club and how much he’s enjoying the moment. It’s up to the club to do the maximum to keep him.” Fulham went on to reject an Everton approach during the winter window.
